When searching for a top-quality cafe in Downtown Milwaukee, look no further than Swig, a prime place to host a party, business meeting, or even date. Swig's atmosphere provides customers a chance to take a break during their lunch or unwind after a long day at work. The lights are dimmed low, adding a nice touch to their smooth atmosphere. The eccentric decorations and fireplace are two more ways Swig highlights its laid-back setting. As for their food, small plate dishes including asiago spinach and artichoke dip and entrees such as shrimp ravioli and grilled salmon display the wide array of foods available to order. Swig also offers specialty sandwiches on numerous types of breads. I chose to go with the turkey & apple club sandwich on grilled whole wheat bread. This sandwich was different because of the di'jon cream cheese spread, bacon, and apples, providing a mixture of sweet and salty. As a side, a decided to go with their crab cake soup, which was also surprisingly tasty. I am not a huge fan of seafood within soups, but this soup gave me the opportunity to appreciate the vast amount of flavors that were involved. That said, the quality service, relaxed atmosphere, fresh food, and plethora of food options to choose from gives Swig an advantage over other cafes and small plate dining experiences in Milwaukee.
The east side of Milwaukee has tons of restaurants available from German foods to Hispanic foods, but Cafe Hollander provides people with a laid back experience that focuses on the Benelux's region culture, which includes the Netherlands, Belgium, and other countries. This Cafe Hollander location is a staple for bikers to visit, as the walls show with pictures from past years of marathons. Most of the dishes served at Cafe Hollander are cooked in beer or wine, adding immense flavor. During my visit, I chose a sausage dish with sweet potatoes and for dessert, I chose a fudge brownie skillet that included white chocolate chunks, fudge sauce, ice cream, and strawberries. The atmosphere was extremely mellow and is an exquisite place to grab a quick bite of food. From bikers to regular customers, Cafe Hollander is a viable option for anyone looking for tasty European-style food.

Thai Lotus is one of the premiere Thai/Chinese food restaurants around Milwaukee. It is a small, family-owned restaurant, which means the food is going to be cooked with love. Their Thai dishes range from Thai chicken with siracha sauce and pud cashew nuts to orange chicken, egg foo yung, and other delicious Chinese entrees. Their prices are extremely reasonable, and their customer service is outstanding. Likewise, their portion sizes force most people to eat their foods as leftovers the next day. Although the restaurant is in an underdeveloped area of Milwaukee, the restaurant provides a nice touch to the neighborhood, sitting directly on the corner. In addition to their restaurant, they deliver to homes and businesses around Milwaukee, which is key for college students looking for a convenient place to eat at off campus. I have had other places around Milwaukee similar to Thai Lotus including Lucky Lu's, Chopsticks, and Jing's in the Third Ward, but Thai Lotus is by far the best. Their food is always fresh, extremely affordable, provide large portions, and their seasonings really withhold the astounding flavors in all of their dishes. Take a trip to Thai Lotus to experience some outstanding Thai, Laos, and Chinese cuisine!
